ACER Project on Staff in Australia’s Schools

Charles Morgan and Margaret Kelly met with Dr Susan Owen from ACER to provide feedback on a DEST project entitled Staff in Australia’s Schools.  The project is intended to gather data to characterise the teaching profession in Australia and to help identify longer term approaches to national teacher workforce-related data gathering exercises. There are two broad components:

  • to identify key data needs for the teacher and school leader workforces, develop agreed data definitions, and collect such data from national samples of teachers and school leaders.
  • to investigate and provide advice relating to the most efficient and effective longer-term national collaborative approaches to the gathering of key data on the teacher and school leader workforces.
